Mehnaz learned Mehendi the way most artists once did — by studying designs, watching every instructional resource she could find and practising on the patient hands of relatives and family friends. That experience shapes the way she teaches.
Beginners start with the basics that no tutorial can give you: how to hold and roll a cone, how to control pressure for thick and thin lines, and how to build the core elements — dots, leaves, paisleys, flowers, jaali and shading.
From there, students learn to compose: how a design flows across a palm, how to balance density and space, and how to adapt a pattern to different hand shapes. Practice on paper moves quickly to practice on real hands.
The professional stage covers what makes a working artist: understanding stain and skin, consultations with brides, timing a full bridal application, pricing, and building a portfolio and Instagram presence.
